Will New/Future Hard Disks' Enhancements Include (P)ATA?

#1 Post by Ragtopgeek » Sat Mar 24, 2007 12:44 am

I'm looking to upgrade my T42p hard-drive to gain both speed and space, but am willing to wait if the manufacturers' new disks this year are PATA-compatible. I know that 200gb and 7200 rpm are only a few months off for SATA (I believe), but not certain if those specs will be available for PATA. I am keenly aware of Hitachi's 7k/100 and Seagate's 7200.1 and all their performance characteristics (and Seagate's 160gb/5400 rpm drive), but could really use the extra space, not to mention to what I'm assuming will be a major performance improvement due to the much higher density.
Thanks for your help,
Ragtopgeek.

With the large users base in PATA 2.5" drives, I would be surprised they don't offer PATA versions of new drives in higher speed and capacities.
