less responsive/performance when T42 docked?

#1 Post by MartinB » Sat Mar 24, 2007 1:11 pm

Is it just my imagination or is it possible that my T42 actually performs lower when docked? The performance lag (less responsive) is especially noticable when browsing the internet.

I am using the portreplicator II connected with a DVI TFT 1680x1050 monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers and of course LAN cable.

Solution, if any?

Is the preformance different if you have all that stuff connected to your ThinkPad when its not on the port replicator?

BTW, I notice you are in Aarhus... do you happen to work with ScandiHealth by any chance?

Cheers,

Bill

I cannot connect the monitor when undocked, because the T42 lacks a DVI-port. But apparently it does NOT affect the performance when all other accessories connected directly.

No, I do not work with ScandiHealth :)

I suspect you have a Windows problem.
Try disconnecting the DVI cable, and see if your T42 slows down.

FYI, I've been using my T42s (2373-K5H) with Port Replicator II, and direct Broadband LAN cable connection, and have never seen the slowdown you've described (i've been using this setup for almost 30 months now).

I have tried running everything (keyboard, speakers, lan..) through the port replicator, except the DVI LCD 1680x1050 and it seems the performance-lag is gone.

Is my external LCD too stressing for my T42 with ATI 7500? The LCD is a Sony MFM-HT205, 20" widescreen.
