T42 WLAN adapter won't turn on

#1 Post by imref » Sat Mar 24, 2007 1:58 pm

I rebooted my T42 today after an update to some backup software and now the WLAN adapter will not turn on.

I press Function-F5 to bring up the wireless radio control, it shows the WLAN adapter and the Bluetooth adapter. The WLAN adapter is off, if I click on power on nothing happens, it remains off. I've rebooted several more times to no avail.

In windows it does show the adapter as being enable, but no wireless networks are visible.

Any thoughts as to what I should try?

Do a system restore back to the point prior to installing the new software/hardware. See what happens.

Also are there any red X's in device manager.?

I tried that, but after each reboot I got a message stating that Windows was unable to restore to the selected restore point.

i did fix the problem though, apparently our cisco VPN client went crazy and shut down our WLAN radios.
