T43 temperature monitoring or fan controlling!

Hey all notice many of you talking about fan problems and temperature control/monitoring on your t-4x's. I have a t43 with a fan that just won't quit. Sent it to service on warranty - came back same if not worse. How can I check/alter temperature parameters. Should I install Shimodax's fan control program? I am almost a complete novice when it comes to anything past go and use, but htis fan noise is driving me to radical action. Any help is greatly appreciated: )
