Shinza and the Zeroshock sleeve

#1 Post by blackatom » Tue Sep 28, 2004 4:52 pm

Has anyone else had this problem recently? I ordered my zeroshock 15" medium sleeve from shinza.com on aug 26th. I know they were backordered for a while so I waited. I checked my account status and it said my sleeve was scheduled to ship on September 23rd. It is now september 28th, my credit card has been charged since the 21st, and I still have no word that my ZeroShock has been shipped yet. Has anyone who has waited through the backorder had theirs ship yet?
I e-mailed them earlier this morning around 10am and got no response, so I suppose I'll still have to wait and still use a towel+backpack to carry my T42 to class :( .

I ordered a week before you did. Emailed them night of Sept 26. Got a personal reply morning of Sept 27, apologizing for the delay and saying my order shipped out on Friday Sept 24, and that an automated shipping response would be sent later. Still haven't gotten that yet, but if the order gets here this week they'll still have an A in customer service in my book.

I ordere d the 15" large and medium, will post pictures and impressions of each sleeve with 14 and 15" t42s with 6 and 9-cell batteries when they come in ;)

Kenn, I am looking forward to your opinion on how well the medium fit a 14.1" T42 with 6 cell battery :D

shipped

I just received an email from shinza.com saying it was shipped yesterday, so hopefully I should have it by the end of the week. I'll defiantly post a review and some pictures of how the T42 14" fits in the medium sleeve since there is a lack of pictures to back up the reviews on this forum.

Sweet. So if you drop a bowling ball on your laptop from 2mm, at least you know you're safe... :D

What about continuous pressure? If this thing is riding in my backpack all day am I still going to end up with keyboard smudges/indentations on my screen? Would Tom Bihn's Monolith or BrainCell hard-sided bags protect my computer better than the Zeroshock?

Today I received the Zeroshock 15" medium that I ordered from Shinza 3 weeks ago. My T42 w/14" screen and 9-cell battery fits perfectly with just a little wiggle room. I wouldn't be surprised if the T42 w/15" screen also fit.

The foam in these things is certainly different! Like memory foam only denser, it's firm on impact, but compresses fairly readily under a narrow, steady pressure, like a finger. Under a broader pressure, like an open hand, it doesn't produce much, if any, compression.

I like it. Mine is black with grey piping and it looks very good with a T42.

I've just received my Zeroshock and I work about 3 blocks from the Seattle Tom Binh store, so I've gone down there and played with the Braincell.

The Zeroshock is not going to provide the ultimate level of protection that the Braincell will, but it's lighter and smaller. I'm not sure that the rigid sides of any case will help if you are getting strong, steady pressure--it will just get passed through to the laptop. Rigid sides are really designed to defend against puncture damage.

As far as smudges on the screen from the keyboard/touchpoint, I know they make these little thin foam covers for the keyboards, to resist against just this problem.
