Solid state drive T43p

#1 Post by andrewb » Sun Apr 01, 2007 10:23 am

Is it possible to obtain a solid state 32GB hard drive for use in a T43p (model 2669 Q1G) ?

Any views would be appreciated.

Yes. But you might get the 2010 error.

It looks like Newegg might have one coming soon:

And what is that? Something to do with the year 2010? Space Odyssey? :D

we are discussing the same over in the german thinkpad forum right now. it appears SSD's are extremely expensive at this time. an alternative might be, if 8 gb are sufficient, one of the compact flash to 2,5" hard drive connector adapters that are available for about 10 dollars on ebay.

By contrast with general harddisk, which is faster in read/write speed?
Its price is terrible high, isn't it?
I can buy a laptop with $500!

True. However the NAND drives are very fast (faster than SATA drives now), use less power and are in all ways superior. In the next few years, the price will come down. This is going to happen, and it is going to be great.
