Need links on Bad/Dead Pixels

#1 Post by sairam313 » Thu Sep 30, 2004 4:16 pm

Hi,

I bought a new T42, switched it on without power cord and it was doing its initial set up. I plugged in the power card and suddenly everything went blank and one dead pixel appeared. I guess the surge has caused it to die.

Can some one give me some links on what these dead pixels are, if they are correctable, how to check for them on your screen , etc??

Thank You

I don't mean to hijack, but I have a related question:

Is it really a bad thing to plug in the AC adapter when the computer is on? Do they really expect me to shut it down just to plug it in? Is putting it in standby enough?

What about disconnecting the AC?

Thanks a lot.

On a related note, I just got a T42, and it had one dead pixel that never went away. It had a few others that appeared for a day, then dissapeared never to return again. Strange behavior.

Then the whole computer died so I sent it back... :(

As far as truly dead pixels, I don't think there is anything you can do. I have heard you can try "rubbing" them, physically. It didn't seem to make a difference for me.

As far as pixels acting strange, I guess it can happen, and they can dissapear.

Yikes!! Is it bad to plug in the AC adapter while the computer is powered on? I've been doing this ever since I've had my TP :?

Yup. I was doing that all the time too. I was contemplating maybe that's my computer died... In the instructions, it says to do that also. Plug it in and then turn the computer on. I didn't think that was very practical.

I'm glad it's fine.
