Help, if there are any.. Mobo popped I think.

Well, I was using my roomate laptop earlier and the fan got really loud. All of a sudden, everything was shut off and will not turn on.

So, what motherboard can I use or get? Can I get a better videocard, etc?

MOdel is 1875-M2U. IBM T43.

Just before you give that board up for good, there's a few things that'd be good to know

Does it make any beeps on startup?
Does the fan spin up when you try to turn it on, or anything else at all?

When its plugged in does it show the battery indicator as green?
Have you tried turning it on soley from battery power?

If all else fails you could try opening it, removing the cmos battery and the main battery, and leaving it for a while. I've found on some old thinkpads this could sometimes resolve problems, oddly enough.

It doesn't start up, make any beep nor the fan spinning. When I plug in the battery, it doesn't show any light on and the same with just the power cord. I'll try to do the cmos battery tonight.

Sorry, ran out of warranty. Also, after removing the battery for a few hours and putting it back in. Once I press the power button, the battery light flash for a second and nothing happen after that.

looks like bad luck to me then. might need a new mainboard. VERY pricey. best thing to do probably is sell the unit (part by part if you know how to dismantle it) and buy a used one to replace it.

Well, I called up IBM and purchased the on-site extended warranty. Will be in effect 8-10 days. That'll do the trick.
