First Post from my new T42.

#1 Post by Mofo Jones » Fri Oct 01, 2004 9:24 pm

Hi all

Posting from my T42 2373-3uu that I purchased from Bill. So far, no dead pixels! However, I did get a Chinese T42, so I may have to call IBM and get the other keyboard and a set of "official" recovery CDs sent my way.

I have one question: I received a small baggie with what appears to be a small screw. The baggie has the part number of 91P8567. Anybody know what this is for, or where I can go to look it up?

Thanks to all here for the information that helped me decide on this laptop, and a big THANK YOU to Bill for answering my many questions and getting this laptop to me at about Warp 7. :)

More than likely the screw is for the locking capability of the Ultrabay Slim port. If you turn the unit over and look at the bay release catch lever, you'll see that there's a screw hole beside the release.

Placing the screw there prevents anyone from readily removng whatever is in the bay.

congratulations. Sit back, relax, enjoy your Thinkpad, and a little screw.......

when finished, you may either put your little screw away for future use, or screw it into the small hole beneath your CD Bay so no one can remove your CD-Multi Burner ......(mostly only for public places).....

maybe I'll run the "little screw" idea past my wife :) But I'll definitely put the part I got into the computer. No point in having my drive walk off.

JHEM, thanks for the hardware guide link. I'm sure that saves lots of questions on here.
