Is the "p" worth the extra money? I know there will be different opinions here but just curious. Thank you.

Chances are the letter "p" offers no significant practical performance increase for most users. You might want to read the actual hardware differences, instead of staring at the meaningless and costly letter.

There are many other better things one can spend money on, like extra battery, extra ac adapter, a good protective bag, warranty upgrades, perfect screen guarantee ... etc.

Personally I cannot care less about the "p". I know I need dvd-ram so I bought a model with the multi-dvd writer drive.

The major difference is the graphics chip Fire GL T2 with 128MB video RAM. Here is quote from ATI website on this chip:

Notebooks powered by ATI's MOBILITY™ FIRE GL ™ T2 workstation graphics accelerator, are designed for digital content creators (DCC), CAD engineers, and other professionals seeking the fastest, ISV-certified graphics performance on a mobile platform. Now engineers and scientists can perform analysis in the field or in the comfort of their own home and experience workstation class application performance.

What is the perfect screen guarantee? I didn't know there was such a thing! Is it worth it? How much does it cost?

order from Bill, and aside from getting a good price and great service, you have an option that no one else gives: pay him a surcharge ($100?), and he will inspect for zero dead pixels before he ships to you.

For me the biggest difference between the T42 and T42p is the availability of the 15" 1600x1200 screen. As a current A30p owner, the best equivalent that I can find is the T42p model 2379DYU.
