T42 memory slot 1 upgradable?

#1 Post by ozoneraider » Sun Oct 03, 2004 2:11 pm

Is there a way to upgrade the memory in the slot that holds the factory original standard/upgraded memory? I have searched the archives and can not find this topic addressed.

Yes, you can see it after you take out the keyboard. Then you can just take out the original RAM module and insert a new one.

Removing the keyboard only takes 5 minutes.

No. The memory, HDs and many other items on Thinkpads, such as the keyboards, are "Customer Replaceable Units" (CRUs). Not only are there no warranty ramifications with replacing one of these items, but IBM gives specific instructions on how to do so.

You can either watch a movie for how-to instructions: http://www-306.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... PAD-MOVIES

Or read the book: http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.ws ... &loc=en-us
