Power savings

#1 Post by dainova » Fri Apr 20, 2007 4:44 pm

Just curious if I turned off my T4* and leave it plugged into AC adapter, will power adapter still consume those 60Wt ? I think that YES, as it’s still hot + I have some indicators on T42 on as well.

Looks like the only way is disconnect it from outlet?
How to beat PG'n'E ?

Strange, at least I think so. If I turn my laptop off, and the battery is charged, the brick is cold. I would expect minimal draw with the machine off, so maybe the battery is always charging. ... JDH

If the battery is charged and the T4x is shut down, the only power consumption should be a few Watts at most... just the minimal power to run the Switch mode power supply itself and the two LEDs on the T4x.

The power adapter may be slightly above the ambient temperature of the room but it should be in not be in any way "hot".

If you want to avoid those few Watts, then you will need to unplug the power adapter from the mains power outlet (or for those living in countries that use switches on the mains power outlets, switch it off at the outlet).

Cheers,
