Is the video card of a T42 upgradable?

Is it possible to upgrade the video card in a T42? Also can I replace the built-in modem with a new one with bluetooth?

video card isn't upgradeble. maybe you could, and just have to replace the system board as well, i'm not sure.

ATI specify the Radeon Mobility 9600 as upgradable. This might be what you saw. But this is dependent upon the builder and I believe, in the case of IBM, they solder it onto the motherboard.

just to the system board though, right? so couldn't you say, buy a new system board with a new video card attached?

The price is pretty high. When last I checked several weeks ago, IBM wants $917 for the 128MB Firegl board. The 64MB Radeon 9600 systemboard was $631. So probably not worth upgrading. Probably do better selling the old one and putting money towards a new model.
