upgrade?

#1 Post by shiyang » Thu Apr 26, 2007 1:23 am

Hey guys

I just got a bit of cash on my hands, and i'm wondering about a few things

1. should i upgrade to a T60p?
2. Should i stick with my T43 and get a desktop
3. if i were to get rid of this thing, how much could i get for it on this forum/ebay

i'm a student, so i need a laptop for note taking, but all my games/development work could stay at the dorm ,i guess

The machine in questions is a 2668-W12, 1.5yrs old, exactly, i upgraded to 2 gigs of ram, put on AS5. Everything else is factory install.

Thanks

My t43 is as old as yours. I suggest you choose item 2.
In my opinion, your t43 suffice for almost all kind of application(say, most games, development, playing videos, etc.).
You can get a desktop PC for a supplement, if need more powerful computation.

Generally, a computer's life cycle is 3 years or more for a student.
If you sold it, you could get only a half of its original price at most as the price of computer going down so quickly.

Besides, as i know, T60 isn't better than t43 in all aspect.

All above is only my own opinion.

Yeah, I'm for the desktop option too. For the price of a T60p you can get an uber-powerful desktop machine that will last for a long time, for all the tasks where the T43 might not be up to par (mostly heavy 3D games).

I agree with this desktop option also. The T43 is still a very nice unit.
