Dear all,
I have Kensington Key Lock that I doesn't seem to fit my T43-1871. When I insert the t-bar shaped end of the lock into the keyhole (beside the USB ports), the lock will not turn nor will it lock. I've tried to push the lock in as hard as I can, and it still won't turn. The keyhole doesn't seem to be deep enough; the T bar at the end of the lock doesn't appear to insert fully. I'm hoping there someone with a T4X and a working Kensington Lock that can help me. I phoned Kensington Support and they couldn't help me at all. I searched the forum but couldn't find any posts that helped.
Cheers.
Problems using Kensington Lock on T43-1871
The Kensington cable lock works fine on my T43-2687D3U.
There may be some (mis-positioned) component or chassis hardware adjacent to the keyhole on your machine that is preventing the lock from being fully insertable. Either that, or you have a "short" lock mechanism. If you can peer inside of the keyhole, see if there is something obstructing it.
If there seems to be enough clearance, try another cable lock (perhaps a different brand) or borrow a friend's to see if you experience the same problem.

Thanks for your reply. When I look through the keyhole, the keyhole is really shallow. There is a piece of black metal inside the keyhole. It is obstructing the T-bar from being inserted further. Unless there is anything else I can do, I'll have to try a different lock:( It's really weird though, I have the lock that IBM recommends for my computer!
If your machine is still under warranty, Lenovo should take a look at it and repair the problem.
You say there is a piece of metal obstructing the keyhole. I have found the same thing on mine, and there is approximately 1/4 inch of clearance available for my Kensington lock. If yours is less than that, then part of your machine may have been improperly assembled or there is a subchassis that is positioned incorrectly in the vicinity of the keyhole.
