Help! My T43 is nonresponsive!

#1 Post by johnlusf » Thu Apr 26, 2007 11:50 pm

I was in class and the reliable T43 was working as it usually does. After class, I pack it up into my Waterfield like I always do and head home. After dinner, I tried turning on the T43. Nothing.
I didn't notice it hadn't turned on, so I pressed the power button again. Nothing.

I thought maybe I put it to sleep by accident when I left class, so I plug in the adapter. The little battery light doesn't come on...

I unplug everything, remove the battery, and replace it. Plug in the power adapter, and wait... the battery light turns green, then turns yellow in a couple of seconds.

I press the power and voila, it turns on... however... the screen is blank and it does nothing.

I turn it off again and wait 5 minutes, turn it on again and the same result, screen is blank and it does nothing!

What can I do now? Finals are in a couple days! I'm screwed!!!!!!!!

Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

Can you see the BIOS screen? Try removing the hard drive and rams and starting the computer without them it could be a issue with them.

Also did you notice if the computer was hot when you take it from the bag?

I cannot see the BIOS screen. That's the thing. I just removed the HD and put it in a USB enclosure to transfer my data to my VAIO, just in case. I will try turning it on now w/o the HD and report back. Thanks

Works without the HD! Now what should I do? Stick the HD back in and see what happens?

Works with the HD on as well! But if it is this unstable... this is going to be a problem.

Also, the battery light keeps flashing green now, it's never done that before

Thanks for your help!

Flashing green light (at least on T41) means battery charging is nearly complete, generally flashes above 90%. Not sure but the flashing battery charge light may depend on the power scheme/settings...

Sounds to me like the battery died originally and machine did a full drain...could be a battery problem rather than a machine problem...
