Drivers Needed - Clean Install of Windows XP

#1 Post by richardmalik » Fri May 04, 2007 7:15 am

I have a T40 with generic Windows XP loaded onto it (Had problems with MBR). I want to download drivers onto another computer from the IBM website and transfer them to the T40 using a flash drive. Is my thinking right so far?

What drivers should I download (and in what order) so the T40 will recognize the ethernet cable attached to it and be able to do the downloads on its own through IE?

I haven't gotten anywhere with this since my last post about a month ago.

Thanks for the help. :?

You can download the Intel Ethernet PRO 10/100/1000 here.

If you have XP up and running, all you need to add initially is the NIC driver referenced above and the ThinkPad Software Installer utility.

Once you have the NIC driver installed and have Internet connectivity, fire up the Software Installer and it will find all the relevant updates on the Levono web site. You can then pick which ones you want it to download and install for you.

Cheers,

I missed Software Installer, thanks for the follow-on Bill.
Here's the link.

That worked really well - thank you!

I now have another issue - a small one. After installing Windows XP, the resolution on the screen was crumby. I increased the resolution to the maximum - it looks great. However, when dragging a window, it hesitates, or lurches, is not smooth. Do you have any suggestions. I'll make a new post about this issue, if necesarry.

I'm having the same problem. Any ideas on how to fix this ?

EDIT: Nevermind, it went away on updating the video driver.
