Do non-Lenovo keyboards allow full access to TP functions?

#1 Post by teepee » Mon May 07, 2007 1:51 pm

Hi

I'm intending to buy a Mini-dock or Dock II and then use my T42 via an external monitor (already got) and external keyboard and mouse. I checked the Lenovo website and found a couple of keyboards that replicate the TP Fn and extra keys (eg vol control). Would I get this functionality only by going with a TP keyboard, or would any keyboard with volume controls and Fn keys work just as well please? I presume any keyboard would be OK, but just want to check before buying.

If any is OK, does anyone have any recommendations of keyboards to look for or avoid? I used a Cherry keyboard ages back and liked it, and hated a couple of Compaq keyboards I used.

I quite like the idea of the Lenovo keyboard that replicates the TP keyboard + trackpad etc in its entirety, as it would be nice to have the same layouts. But it is way overpriced and I want to not have the trackpad.

Many thanks.
T42 2373-K1G, 1.7Ghz, 512Mb RAM (trying for 2Gb), 40Gb Tosh HDD (access ........... access .......... access), SC, FP, BT, Why?BG, 14" Plain Old Obsolete Resolution (POOR), DVD/CDRW
