Replacing X60 with T41/42 - am I nuts?

#1 Post by sagara » Sat May 12, 2007 4:03 am

I sold my T41 some months ago an bought a X60, but I just don't like the feel of the keyboard, no DVD/CD drive, smaller screen, etc. So I've put it up for sale on ebay (UK). I'm thinking of going back to my favourite TP, the T41, even though it is a lower spec (but for my use, I don't think that's a big deal). My question is, what is the difference between the T41 and T42, apart from the fact that T42s usually come with WIFI and the warranty might have longer to run. On ebay, there's not much difference in price for similar models.

Thanks,

Robert

There are differences, but not that many. The T42 offers options on bigger screens, fingerprint reader, etc. It also supports different Dothan processors, which run at a little lower voltage than the earlier Banias. T42 with a Dothan would get a little more battery life and MIGHT be a little cooler. (I mean temperature, as opposed to image)

You also get UXGA screens on T42p ... AFAIK, there was not 15" on the T41.

For what you've all said, I'll go for the T42.

Thanks,

You wont' be disappointed. I would get one with at least 64MB of VRAM. We have a few T42's at work and they are great machines.

For some reason, in the UK all the T41/2s seem to have the the ATI MOBILITY RADEON 7500 with only 32MB VRAM. Why this is I don't know.

well,
you are not nut.
i do have both T43 and X60s.
Personally, i would still prefer the solid built of T43 and its keyboard as well.
for portability as well as little small screen, i had given X60s to my girl friend.

2. X60s 1703-CA3 powerful
