Boot to PCMCIA?

#1 Post by Kenundrum » Sat May 12, 2007 7:50 pm

i'm currently using a t42 2378 and it does not seem like i can boot to a hard drive/flash card in my pcmcia slot... USB flash drives work fine... Does anyone have any ideas? i have the latest bios.
is my only option to buy a flash card to ATA/IDE adapter?
Right now i have windows on the hard drive and ubuntu on an 8GB cf card with a pc card adapter in the slot, but it will only boot when used with a usb reader. i want to be able to use that CF card without a usb dongle sticking out the side...

The pc card slots in T4x cannot be used as a boot device.

Just a thought, would it not be possible to override this with grub? (granted it'll still have to have a present hard drive, but it will have the option to boot off of a completely seperate install on the pcmcia slot)
