Dvorak Keyboard on a T41

#1 Post by MintPad » Mon May 14, 2007 10:43 am

So I plucked apart most of my keyboard, rearranging my keys to Dvorak, but it's impossible. The binders for the F and J keys are actually reversed from the normal key binders, and the B key below the Nub is manufactured in such a way that, when bound to another binder, it sticks forward and interferes with the two keys above it.

So, is there a place where I can order Dvorak keys to replace these, specifically for a T4* series notebook? I'd even consider removing the paint off of these and very carefully repainting to the Dvorak setup, but I absolutely don't want to put stickers over my keys.

Not that *I* know of. I also use the Dvorak layout, but I touch type, so the fact that the keys are in Qwerty do not really hinder me.

I know with full size PC keyboards, the keys can actually be angled, depending on what row the key is in, so you generally cannot move Qwerty keys into a Dvorak layout, but I did not know the laptops had similar issues.

I'm with you on the sticker issue. I've used stickers in the past (for APL). They are tacky (in both senses of the word), and wear off.

To repaint the keys seems like an awful lot of work for a set of keys which would not look very good (I'm basing this statement on my painting skills).

If you do happen to find a set, let us know.
