Palm rest assembly without touchpad on my T42

#1 Post by raket » Mon May 14, 2007 3:03 pm

Hello!
I am getting tired of the touch pad on my T42.
Thinking about buying this:
http://www.wakamatsu.co.jp/psplaza/cgi- ... 2-0001.gif
http://goods.ruten.com.tw/item/show?10060808391214

Part number: 91P8399

Is there any drawbacks by changing it?
Would i be able to do it myself?
Have anyone else around used it?

The downside is that you might change your mind or sell the system. How about a simple solution? Turn it off in the BIOS

It's very easy just follow the HMM.

I did it to my previous T40, i personaly prefer the trackpoint over the ultranav.

Are these IBM parts or 3rd party? Where can you find one in the US?
Now: T60 2613-EKU | T23 2647-9NU | 600X 2645-9FU | HP 100LX

Google :) There appear to be a couple of sellers.

re: $93 part

I wouldn't EVER think about buying anything, nor recommending IT Equipment Express to anyone.

I agree with Ray. Their prices are freakishly high and it makes me wonder how they can remain in business with their prices being so out of line with what other sellers are asking for.

Stay away from IT Equipment Express.

I'm just tired of the look, nothing personally about the use of it.
And besides that a computer without it may perhaps be more secure against water and other liquids?
