Hitachi 7K100 Hard Dive

#1 Post by ranjit » Wed May 16, 2007 1:19 am

Hi All,

I have a thinkPad T42 laptop running on Windows XP Professional SP2. The model type is 2373-NUA. When I looked up the product information on IBM's (Lenovo) website I see that the maximum HD capacity that is listed for this laptop is 80GB. My questions are:

1. Will I be able to use a Hitachi 7K100 (100GB) HD in this laptop?
2. Will the system support and be able to see the full 100GB or will it be limited to 80GB?
3. Has ne1 with the same laptop type used a 7K100 on their machine without any problems?

Cheers and best regards,
Ranjit

Yes, the 7K100 will work, and you will see the entire drive. I believe that there are no compatibility issues with the T42 (the T43 requires a firmware update to eliminate "2010" errors at startup) but hopefully a T42 owner can confirm that.

Confirm my T42s (2373-K5H) can use the 7K100 no problem... have been using it for well over one year now...

Hope this helps!

The 100GB 7K100 is your best bet. I also have a T42p and it works great
