Recently I have spotted a used T41, which I am considering to purchase. The only problem is that the AC adapter is missing. I myself own a spare X31 AC adapter. Will it be suitable to use on T41?
I have found some relevant information on Lenovo site.
X31, X32, X40 - 56W (Output 16V, 3.5A)
T40, T41, T42 - 72W (Output 16V, 4.5A)
Perhaps, the X31 56W AC adapter will work on T41 though with the life expectance reduced. Do you have any ideas?
Use X31 AC Adapter on T41?

Welcome to thinkpads.com!
The two different power supplies you have mentioned (56W and 72W) are designed to be used on their supported systems. You can safely use a 72W power supply on the X3x/X40 systems but I would not recommend the reverse (using a 56W supply on the T4x system).
To do so, most likely the 56W power supply will run much warmer than normal and could shorten its life. Worst case, the supply will overheat, become damaged and harm the laptop. Please note that there is a very small chance of actual damage being done to the laptop. To me it's not worth trying to save a few dollars by using a lower-rated supply. This assumes you have a good selection of the 72W power supplies, at a fair price, in your area. You could use a non-IBM adapter as long as you follow the voltage (16VDC), current (4.5A), and DC power plug arrangement (5.5mm outside diameter, 2.5mm inside diameter, center positive).
