Access Connections No WEP

I have recently reinstalled my 2200BG drivers and Access Connections after a crash. I can connect to open access points, but when I try to apply WEP, the connection fails. When I click "Fix this", I get a message that the Wireless Configuration service is not available. If I check the service in control panel, it is started.

I have the same issue when I try using windows to control the connection, even if I uninstall A/C

Any ideas?

I use 2915ABG and have WPA2 and don't use AC and have no problems.

I'm sorry, but I find this kind of post very unhelpful. It's equivalent to me asking: "Why do you use ? I use ? and don't use and have no problems . . . " We've got someone here with a legitimate problem--let's not get distracted by a person's choice of software. AC is a useful application that works well for a host of users. Unfortunately, it is not working well for jsmit86. Let's try help him get it doing its job! Because it's a treat when it works

jsmit86, I've got the 2200BG in one of my machines, running AC 4.23 and WPA2, and everything is OK (router is a Linksys WRT54GS v4 [w/ Tomato firmware]). But it did take a bit to get it sorted out. When running AC it seems essential to get your card set up first (i.e., install drivers, etc.) before trying to set up AC. Even when upgrading AC, some have had to uninstall everything--AC, wireless drivers, the whole shooting match--and start from scratch. One other approach might be to try WPA or WPA2 rather than WEP. They're definitely more robust (in terms of security), they don't affect speed as much (they represent a more streamlined protocol), and they seem more stable than WEP. Of course, if your router is only WEP capable you're stuck with it, but see if you can't use WPA2 (which is preferred over WPA).

Actually, A/C makes managing multiple profiles a lot easier, i.e. Static IP, Printers etc..

With A/C I now have control of the wireless card via Fn F5.

I need to stay with WEP due to other PCs and Routers.
