Annoying problems, please help

#1 Post by ckwbff » Mon May 21, 2007 11:45 pm

So I need to buy a new hard drive for my T41 since my current one is completely dead but I have no idea what to replace it with. And also how do I recover back to original thinkpad software if I can't even access the recovery partition?

Sounds like you need a set of recovery discs. Ask around here, maybe someone has a set.

Any PATA drive will work. Any available capacity and any available RPM. I would recommend a 7200 RPM drive. If you haven't tried one you may notice that your ThinkPad will appear new again with a snappyness never before seen. New or used the prices now are cheap.

If you don't have the recovery disks just ask I am sure someone has some.

I agree with Brad.

Just be careful concerning non new HDDs.

HDDs are fragile.

If you purchase one, try it before, and test it with the adequat diagnostic tools.

Also, consider warranty, they range from 1 to 5 years for after market drives.

Okay, I got the new hard drive and was too impatient to wait for a recovery disk so I installed XP on it, but now the network drivers don't work even after burning them onto a disk and installing them on the T41. Do I absolutely need to recover to the original software for this computer to work?
