If similar condition and similar warranty (expired?), I'd take the T40p. You can always pop a Dothan in the T40p.
I'm not sure about your price range, but look at this T42p;

Another vote for the T40p. Having XGA on a 14.1" screen is despicable, and the 32MB video memory and 802.11b are also unappealing.

Thanks for your input.
The T42 still have 3 more months of warranty, but I can't upgrade video memory from 32MB, however, the ddr333 of the T42 and the capability to control the battery charge of the T42 is nice, and I could upgrade the screen to sxga for about $60 from selling the xga screen.
how much could I get for the bluetooth modem if I get the T40p? $35? add $30 and I could get the dothan 1.7Ghz? or $50 to a dothan 1.8?
I will get the T40p.
Thanks again.

The only thing would stop me from buying a T40p is that those units come with warped motherboards, suddenly losing 2.0 speed in USB ports, CardBus slot failures, mobo flexings, etc, needing to be replaced. However if you take care of the machine you wouldn't have the problem.
I've not heard problems with T42 units, the up-side is the faster memory bandwidth. But in essence a T40/p-T42/p have the same internal components. T43s uses ExpressCard slots and faster memory bandwidth, but a very hot Intel Chipset.
