My T40 automatically shuts down when it trys to start the LCD display. Then I have to take out the battery and unplug the DC power to start the computer again, otherwise it would not respond to the power button.
Currently I can only disable the LCD and use an exteral CRT display. The computer works fine when the LCD is connected but not used.
Some people told me that this could be due to a short in the LCD circuit. However when I have unpluged the LCD cable from the mother board, the power still shuts off when the computer trys to start the LCD display, which is not there at all.
Now I am suspecting that the power controlling chip, MAX1631, is not working properly.
Anyone have any idea?
