T42 Screen issue

#1 Post by squawkBOX » Sun Oct 10, 2004 1:27 pm

Hi, thanks for taking the time to read this message.

I am in the UK at the moment and got a T42 for university. Its a brilliant notebook. It has everything that I want and its a great size. However one area that I felt was a little off is the 15" screen. It just doesn't seem right. I find if I watching movies, the screen is very dark. Turning the brightness up full just gives you a sort of white glare at the bottom.

Another aspect that I noticed, is that it has to be a certain angle for all the colours to be right. I find myself adjusting the screen up and down when I am sitting in front of it. Its vertical/horizonal viewing angles aint great. Colours seem slightly less vivd than a friends X40.

Details: T42 2376NG3 (I think)
I have the four year warranty.

If you're used to a CRT, then any LCD will appear the way you describe. In fact the 15" flexview on the T42 is about the best LCD available and far better than most notebook LCDs.

the color temps are low, compared to a crt, however the flexview is a great lcd. my powerbook g4 had a great screen, but unfortunately everything got washed out from the mac os x theme.

regardless, this is the best ibm lcd portable display i've ever seen
