T43 Bios Downgrade!

#1 Post by kenny » Mon May 28, 2007 6:33 am

Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible to downgrade the T43 bios?
I'm currently using version 1.29, but I think that this version is causing problems.

If it is possible to downgrade the bios, can anyone explain how?

Thanks in advance! ;)

I knew you can downgrade the BIOS of T43. But I don't know how.

The old bios versions are available from Lenovo's support site. However I can't downgrade the bios like I upgraded it earlier. When I upgraded, it showed the bios flash tool screen upon reboot. But now, when I try to downgrade with an older version, it skips that part! :(

There are many many reasons. Just like get the 2010 error out of your thinkpad while upgrade a third part HDD.

I suspect that the new BIOS is causing my FAN to run at almost maximum speed constantly, without any reason. After just 5 minutes of use the FAN runs at a noisy 4000RPM, although the maximum temperature stays around 46C*.

I believe this occured after I reinstalled my laptop and updated the BIOS, since there wasn't a problem before I reinstalled the laptop. It ran for about a year, silent as the grave, now it makes more noise than my Desktop PC! :(

So I'm desperately looking for a way to downgrade the BIOS, just to check and see if it returns to its quiet state! ;)

I just went to the BIOS update download page on Lenovo, scrolled to the previous versions of BIOS, downloaded the old one. Ran it, rebooted and all was fine.

Do BIOS downgrades via Bootable CD or other method work for Thinkpads?

Esp I am wondering the same for my T61 and X61T.

Yes, they work AFAIK.

Why would you want to downgrade BIOS on T61 and X61T, though? Care to share... :)

This is why..

I was able to downgrade and upgrade with the Bootable CDs.

Lets see what happens next. Know anyone who could help with the German?

All he does is:
make sure there is no Automatic Restart after a crash
and when the QUEUE error happens, he runs a REPAIR installation of XP.

When XP Repair is done what happens? Will it install like a clean registry thereby all applications, drivers and settings need to be reinstalled and will be lost?

The goal is not to repost same thing all over the place. I figured maybe there are some independent issues at work here.

I'll post the relevant details to the right thread.
