Access IBM Button Not Functioning Right - T40
Access IBM Button Not Functioning Right - T40
Hello,
I have been using my refurbished T40 for about four months. In the past few days, I discovered that I was able to install ThinkVantage features on this laptop. I went a little crazy downloading and installing most of what I could find that are supported by this laptop model.
I've since noticed that the Access IBM button does work during bootup, but not after Windows is loaded.
Also, the volume buttons do function to increase/decrease or mute sound, but the volume meters are no longer displayed on the screen.
Any thoughts?
Thank you.

Place a check mark in the little box below the monitor.
Sounds like a problem with the Hotkey features driver.
This includes the following modules:
- On Screen Display
- Easy Launch Buttons III (not on the T4x series AFAIK)
- Full Screen Magnifier
- Web navigation keys agent

Thank you everyone for your input. Strangely enough, GomJ,
one of the last things I did last night was to install the Hotkey features driver, not being sure how it would effect the buttons that weren't functioning right.
Problem solved! The more I use this laptop now, especially after having found that ThinkVantage features run on this model, the more I love it!
Thank you all again! I can see this forum is going to be a real boon to my ThinkPad experience!

Buttons still not work on screen
Hi Gom Jabbar!
I installed the Hotkey Features Driver & it didn't help me.
The computer won't let me click on the tabs on the top portion of the Access IBM Button screen, nor am I able to click to enter info in the search bar.
I had just reformatted my T41 Thinkpad that has Windows XP Pro & put on all the needed updates.
The tech staff of Lenovo on the phone had no remedy for me neither.
I hope there is an answer out there.

Same here. Anyone have any further troubleshooting? Is the Access IBM even necessary (after boot) now that I'm using the ThinkVantage features?acaaleks wrote:The computer won't let me click on the tabs on the top portion of the Access IBM Button screen, nor am I able to click to enter info in the search bar.

Access IBM Button not working
I'm told that if you use the #1 recovery disc from IBM/Lenovo & keep tapping F11 as the laptop reboots;you'll be given access to the
Access IBM Button options.I've just ordered the recovery discs so that
I can give it a try on my T41.

My Access IBM hasn't worked for a very long time...I tried to open the "Thinkpad Configuration" under "Control Panel" and it won't open. I even went into "Program Files" and tried to manually launch it and it won't launch.
Hotkey is already loaded and working...On Screen Display works on my T41.
Any ideas on what to do next??

What exactly did you do to solve the problem? After following this topic, I too noticed that the menu items in my Access IBM screen don't work. I rarely bother using the blue-button and "Access IBM", but the broken nature bothers me. I had recently allowed various ThinkAdvantage Updates to take place, and I seem to remember one of them being the Hot Keys update. Could the most recent update have caused the Access IBM feature to break?TeaRowz wrote:Thank you everyone for your input. Strangely enough, GomJ,

Everything else seems to work fine: Magnifying glass, web navigation, onscreen display.

TeaRowz's post is 1 year old. Anyway, take a look at this topic - maybe your "Access IBM" problem is flash related.

Thank you. That pointed to the problem. I had Flash version "115". The latest version, "124", fixed the problem.AIX wrote:TeaRowz's post is 1 year old. Anyway, take a look at this topic - maybe your "Access IBM" problem is flash related.
