Docking / Monitor Query.

Firstly, hello to you all. This is my first posting.

Here's the problem...

I have a T43p and a docking station (port replicator II). I have decided to use a larger monitor when I use my laptop in my home office but can't get things to work as I would like.

I don't want to use the dual screens setting. Here's what I'd like to happen. ...

When I dock my laptop I would like the laptop screen to be out of use and everything working on the flat panel monitor. And when I undock, I don't really want to change any settings - I'd like the laptop screen to be ready to use.
The resolution I use on the laptop is 1400x1050.
The flat panel monitor is 1280x1024

Does anyone know how to do this? I'm not the most technical person around so please try not to boggle me with science!

Use Presentation Director to create a display scheme with just an external 1280x1024 monitor.

Then, still in Presentation Director, check the box that says "When ThinkPad is docked", and select the display scheme you just created.

Save your settings, and the ThinkPad will now automatically switch displays (and resolutions) when you dock and undock.

I've managed to update the display profile so that I can use the external monitor, but it will not change automatically.

I have the boxed ticked saying to apply the setting when docked, but it doesnt work.

If I dock my laptop, the laptop screen stays on and nothing happens. I can then press Fn+F7 and it displays the option to change the display profile
The same happens the other way around. If i un-dock and stop using the monitor, the laptop screen stays blank until I press Fn+F7 and change the display profile.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Windows XP & Windows Vista Business Ed has always done this just fine with my T43 (the OS automatically recognizes when my laptop is docked and turns off the laptop LCD and turns on my 24" Dell 2405FPW via DVI). I always had the same problems as you describe with presentation director.
