Speedstep and Dothan

#1 Post by sktn77a » Sat Jun 02, 2007 11:04 am

I've just put a new Dothan 2.0 GHz in place of an older Banias 1.5GHz in mt T40. I noticed that in system info (right click on My Computer) the processor is listed as 2.0GHz but the no-load speed is now 200MHz (previously it would back off to 600MHz under no load).

Is is a glitch within the new Dothan processor or does it have newer speedstep capabilities?

I have a Dothan 1.8Ghz in my T41 (so not the same as yours). Two things: (a) I don't find the speed information in My Computer -> Properties to be completely reliable, and (b) my Dothan does SpeedStop properly and MobileMeter reports that properly. So as we speak, my T41 is at 600Mhz and I have never seen it go below that. ... JDH

Did you use cpuz to measure the cpu speed? You can get it here:

http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
X32/2.0GHZ/2GB/ENGENIUS EMP-8602+S 600mw mini pci/WD 250GB
X60/1.83GHZ/2GB/Atheros/7K100
