Recommendations as to most reliable Thinkpad series?

My A22m recently failed. i trade stocks/options real-time and need an
extremely electronically and physically robust and reliable notebook to
handle my trading platform. 5 year life is most desireable. T, R or other series best suited for my application?

I'd avoid the R-series. It's made of ABS plastic instead of the titanium/magnesium of the T series.

Personally, if you can try an X-series, the build quality of that is amazing. It's a very, very solid notebook, and the extremely small size is very handy for traveling around with. Otherwise, the T series should do a great job for you as well. E-mail Bill here for a quote!

Reliability was my main concern, over everything else, because I'm hard on laptops, and have worn out a couple. After researching everything I could, I picked a T41. An X would have been fine, too, but I didn't want the smaller screen, etc.

Because how they hold up to abuse, my company (fortune 400) use the T4x series. We have had the best luck with them. That is how i came to appriciate them and purchase one myself.

If you wanna drop the cash, like someone I know you could go for the Sony X505. It's [censored] light and feels pretty sturdy. For an IBM solution you could go for the X series.

I'm not a big fan of Sony. Every Sony laptop in my company has had to be fixed for one reason or another. They are very asthetically pleasing, but right now I only trust IBMs. Perhaps now the quality has improved for Sony's? All I know for sure is that I will never purchase another Dell for my company. Desktops and servers are fine, but their notebooks just don't cut it.
