T20 7-pin S-Video port pin out

#1 Post by M4A » Tue Oct 12, 2004 1:07 am

Is there a pin out for the 7-pin DIN S-Video port on the T20? Does anyone know of the Dell 7-pin breakout doo-dad works on this (priced at about $15/ebay)? I've priced a basic 7-pin to 4-pin for about $25/store, but the Dell 7-pin gets me, if it does works, digital audio, composite, and s-video from the 7 pins. I could make do with the pin out -- that is if I can pick up the 7-pin plug at Radio Shack, but that'd be my second choice.

What are the extra pins for? I have used standard 4 pin cables connectors fine.

It's a "Pro S-Video" connecter, extra pins supposed to be for audio. The 7 pin connecter would allow you to connect to the TV without having to use separate audio cables. But they could never agree on a standard, so we're back to using separate cables.

I have T20 and even after removing and reinstalling the S3 driver, I am not able to select the TV-OUT. That option is greyed out. Incidentally, the S3 applet in the taskbar does not respond to MB1 or MB3. I am running Win98SE with all the applicable updates applied. The laptop came with Win98SE.

There was a time when I had connected to the TV-OUT port. So it was working at some time in the past. I have rebooted the laptop with S-video cable plugged in.

Even after working with windoes for decades, I still have no idea what to do when an option gets greyed out :-(

Please help,
