14" SXGA+ IPS Screen? HUH?

#1 Post by SHoTTa35 » Tue Jun 05, 2007 5:03 pm

OK well i was browsing around this other thread and saw someone asking about the weight of a T61 15.4. There was a link there to check the parts list or something so i just plugged mine in and came back with this:
Display
External display supported: Yes
Simultaneous external display: Yes
Screen type description: SXGA+IPS TFT
Viewable image size (diagonal): 14.1inches
Screen illumination: Backlit
Max colors or grey shades: 16777216
Max resolution: 1400x1050

You can read there for yourself. I thought IPS screens only came in the 15" ones. That's exactly why i dind't get it because of the size and weight.

check the angles - if colors don't change - we'll have to research that then. Otherwise Typo of some sort.

well i guess it might be tough to believe me if i said it is one but i don't think it's an IPS based on what i've read. I've never seen an IPS screen before but i just turned it to the side from both sides and it was still pretty clear. I know it's better than the Thinkpad T41 i had which is a 2373-AMU. The when i tilt the screen towards me i can see certainly that it's viewing angles are low but wide is pretty decent tho. I can read this thread at about a 170 degree angle perfectly.

For people that know the Metro in Washington, DC. I'm sitting in an above ground station and it's still light outside (not super bright but the street lights aren't even on yet) and it's clearly viewable.
