Client Security Software with encryption, where??

#1 Post by venro » Wed Jun 06, 2007 5:00 pm

Hi,

I was reading about IBM Embedded Security Subsystem 2.0 and liked the idea of encrypting my drive. My system is T40 with Embedded controller v1.02.

On ibm.com there is "ThinkVantage Client Security Solution" (v6 and v8), but it doesn't have encryption (at least I don't see it). Version v5.43 have something like "Utimaco SafeGuard" but it's for older machines and it doesn't like my T40.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong here? Please help :)
Or is there a way to enable encryption without all of this?
560 -> 600E -> T21 -> T40 -> T60 -> T61

The Client Security Software never natively included a method of encrypting the hard drive. They merely claimed support for Utimaco Safegaurd Easy drive encryption software. If memory serves me correctly, Utimaco Private Disk was included with CSS, but this merely created a small, encrypted logical drive.

Hope this helps!
