Tempted to use my recalled battery!

#1 Post by fatbhoy » Thu Jun 07, 2007 10:06 am

IBM didn't take my old 9-cell battery back when they gave me the new one, which I've been using since.

I kept my old one with about 50% charge in it, and I store it in my fridge!

Recently, I've been tempted to use it: I believe only 10 or so such batteries exploded, and (I think) I read somewhere that there's only a possibility of them doing so if they're dropped/banged.

Should I see a shrink or what :), am I in denial? Or should I take a chance and use it?

My XM MyFi battery model had been recalled for getting too warm, but mine never did. They sent a replacement anyway, and it sits on a shelf in its bubble mailer. :)

Sometimes it's an issue of being too cautious, but the MyFi is cheap. A ThinkPad isn't. I wouldn't risk it there.
