New Release of the T42p
New Release of the T42p
OK . . .
Someone here must know about the new release for the T42p coming Q1 2005, with the faster system bus, PCI express, etc.
Here is what I found about the Intel release which should be named Centrino II.
AS WE KNOW, Intel's Sonoma project which includes the 915/910 Express chipsets won't now launch until the first quarter of next year. But when it does, the Pentium Ms will also support a 533MHz system bus.
That's according to road maps shown by Intel to its customers.
Although the mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor which supports HT will stagger on until the end of Q1, it will then be discontinued, and displaced by the chip company's Centrino Mobile family.
As we reported in the last round, the 770 Pentium M, which is a 2.13GHz processor, is slated for the first quarter of next year, and versions supporting the NX flag will be available then.
"Banias" Pentium Ms at 1.70GHz, 1.60GHz and 1.50GHz will disappear from Intel's roadmaps after this quarter.
In the first quarter of next year, mobile tech for the Pentium M family will include the Freeville ABG and Freeville BG families, supporting 802.11a, b, and g. There's no sighting yet of WiMAX support from Intel.
When Intel introduces its 765 Pentium M, which clocks at 2.10GHz in mid-October, it will be priced at $640, while there will be price cuts on the 755 ($420), the 745 ($295), the 735 ($240), and the 725 ($210).
In January, when the 533MHz Pentium Ms are launched, there will be a fresh spate of price cutting.
The 552 Mobile Pentium 4, which clocks at 3.46GHz, will be introduced in late September at $295.
Intel will introduce its 360 Celeron M, which clocks at 1.40GHz and has 1MB of cache, at the end of this month, priced at $135. That date will also see the introduction of the 350 at $108. µ

good job at plaguerizing from The Register. Not that they are really a reliable source or anything to be respected, but you did just blatantly violate their copyright without so much as an acknowledgement or link back to the original text.

Thanks Leeper for responding to the question, zPrime obivoulsy had a bad day, but personally I could think of better places to vent then on a thinkpad forum . . . Anyways here is direct link to the article in question ...

I hope this is an open forum and anyone can comment on the status of new laptops coming out without the worry of people being turned off to commerce side of this site. People should always make an informed decision, and especially when the technology is going to change very soon. No one wants to be the person buying a older model when they could have waited. I know this doesn't help the sale of thinkpads and is probably the reason IBM keeps new releases so quite.
And I know their is always something better around the corner . . . but the question is how soon around the corner.
