Buy a bad board?

#1 Post by Myka » Fri Jun 08, 2007 11:42 am

I've noticed a lot of people selling system boards (T40 - T43) on Ebay which they tell you straight out are bad, don't work, and have nothing on them - no CPU, drives, network cards, ect. People are buying them for big money. Why would anyone do this? What value would a bad system board be to anyone?

If they can repair it, it becomes valuable.

There are many companies (and some individuals) that are more than capable of diagnosing/repairing a motherboard issue down to the component level. Given the prices that 'working' Thinkpad motherboards are going for, you can easily see the profit incentive to do this.
