Using Generic Intel software for Intel 2200BG?

#1 Post by MartinB » Tue Jun 12, 2007 2:46 pm

I have the well known compatibility problem (disconnecting all the time) between my Intel 2200BG Wireless and WRT56GL router. Apparently the problems disappears when using Intel's generic application software, http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_ ... me=Windows

Should there by any issues using Intel's software instead of IBM's access connection in terms of power usage, performance ....?

I don't think so, I'm sure you'll get the same result installing only the driver on Lenovo's package using Device Manager, skipping the setup on Access Connections & Intel Software, just the driver.

Actually not... when using the (updated) driver as standalone and thereby letting windows handle the wireless settings, it keeps disconnecting. Installing Intel Proset/Wireless to handle the wireless settings completely solves all issues. I was just wondering whether IBM Access Connection has anything special to offer wrt power management and performance?

Visually it's better, from the pics I've seen, but you gotta go for performance.
