Wifi External Antenna
Is there a builtin externa antenna plug on the T serie?
I know there is the extra super mega antenna builtin thing, but can I plug (and bypass those) an external one?

The internal antenna is superb. If you plan to "bypass" this for a crappy external one built into a PCMCIA card I hope they recapture you quickly and put you back inside the asylum before someone gets hurtcakos wrote:Is there a builtin externa antenna plug on the T serie?

I didnot say the internal antenna is not cool.
I want to have an external antenna for outdoor better reception....espcially if my TP is in a box.

If you're really wanting to get spiffy, get a Yagi Antenna with a pigtail to an access point, and then use your ThinkPad with wireless antenna to connect wirelessly to the Access Point. This works especially well if you're trying to capture a wireless connection that is up to a mile away. There are different types of these...you can check them out on eBay. By the way, I bought an Access Point for less than $20 (eBay!) the other day (shipping included) made by a company called TecNew and it works great! Found that the coaxial pigtail from my Yagi fits it...originally configured to fit a D-Link! A guy down the hill from me runs a restaurant with a wireless cafe...I can easily connect to his free internet access this way but couldn't just with my ThinkPad. FCC rules say this is perfectly legal too!

well I guess the only to plug an external antenna to my T42p is to buy a WLAN PCCARD....
Maybe I could make a hole in the mini PCI INTEL Wifi slot?!!

But if i want to connect to the company network at the other side of the street, then the internal antenna is a NOGO. therefor i use a linksys wusb54g which connects to the USB port.
although for that the reply from madeinjapan triggered some thoughts.
But i don't have it working (yet). from my TP to the accesspoint and then further to the officenetwork. probably overlooking something in configuration
