custom factory restore on T43p?

I have a T43p and it claims to have a "custom factory restore" option like my X60. But, it never prompts you to elect that option. Whenever I do a factory restore, it restores everything, including all the extra junk software I don't want. Am I missing something here? How do I tell my T43p I only want it to install selected components and software when it does a factory restore? Thanks!
