Lotus Smart Suite missing from T42

#1 Post by Roberto » Thu Oct 14, 2004 6:05 pm

With my T42 2373-CVU (great machine) I thought there woud be a copy of Lotus SmartSuite. However its not in the preinstalled software and there is no CD. Was I mistaken about it being part of the 'package'??

Not sure just where in the manual, somewhere towards the back, you will find the info and phone number to order your free copy.

I've never heard of it. Is it like Microsoft Word, and Powerpoint and all that?

That's something I could use, as I don't have Office.

I use Open Office, which is cool.

Notes and SmartSuite are two completely different products.

And yes, Notes is still alive and well, used by millions of corporate users (and a [censored] sight better than MS Exchange to boot.)

Subsequently found that the info on the Lotus page (p87) of the book is pretty useless. Got immediate satisfaction just by dialing the IBM Fulfillment no. TEL: 1-800-690-3899. :P

What could be easier than calling IBM support (1-800-IBM-SERV) and telling them you want the CD?

They'll ask you the model and serial numbers of your Thinkpad and the CDs usually arrive the next day.

Just meant it was not very obvious. And yes, made the call and they arrived two days later.

Yes.

I'm not aware of any T4X series machine that doesn't come with the SmartSuite and Notes licenses.

that link does not seem to apply to residents in US, as I can't pick the country. Other than calling, is there any other way to get the software?
