XGA or SXGA screen - how do u tell?

#1 Post by psychocandy » Mon Jun 18, 2007 6:16 am

My screen is broken and I'm planning on buying a replacement off ebay...

How I tell what I've currently got?

Or doesnt it matter what screen I buy as long as it comes with the whole lot including inverter etc?

you need to figure out what's wrong with it first.

1. the graphics chip might be broken : you can check by trying an external monitor. if you get nothing, you most likely need a new board.

2. if the gpu is ok, then you have to look at the lcd screen itself which consists of the panel, inverter card, cable. there are diffrent symptoms to each failure so you need to state specifics of the malfunction (like you get a blank white screen, the color is yellow or reddish, lines on the screen etc...)

once you know what's wrong, you can purchase the parts off of ebay or local place...

as for finding out what type of lcd you have, there is a machine type on the bottom of your tp that goes like this #### @@@.
google this machine type and you'll find the screen type.

good luck.

XGA -

Dimitri has a whole LCD assembly for $195. He's a member here as well. It is definately easier to replace the entire assembly.
