T41 Heating up

#1 Post by getsandy » Mon Jun 25, 2007 10:46 pm

Hi All,
I have Thinkpad-T41 (2378DHU) (1.4 GHz, 512MB, 80GB).

In recent day I have observed that my laptop is getting hot.

1. The lower side of screen is getting hot.

2. Also if I put earphones, after some time the earphone connector will be very hot (same case may be there with USB cables connector also)

But palm rest is not hot.

Is this normal or do I need to check something?

Thanks in Advance
Sandy

I'd say is normal. Depending on your ambient temperature this behaviour is normal. My T42p also heats up, the bottom of the laptop gets very hot, but climate here is hot.

The lower side screen is where the inverter is. You can try to dim your screen brightness a little bit to see if it helps.

Use hardware monitoring programs such as mobmeter or NHC to see which area has the highest temperature and see if decreasing voltage/freq helps.
