Bad Move, Good Question

#1 Post by normanm » Tue Jun 26, 2007 9:04 am

T41 Bad Move: somehow, turing off processes or fiddling with settings, I've disable the darn blue Access IBM key and can't figure out how to re-enable it. A little help please.

T41 Good Question: I found out it was disabled because I wanted to get to the bios to put the CD-drive in the boot sequence. I used F2 during bootup and a bios (setup) screen came up, but there was no option for it to check the CD drive on bootup, put the CD drive first in the boot-check sequence. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Underclocker. F12 gives me a list of choices. I take it that I simply highlight the DVD drive to tell the bios to boot from it on that particular pass?

Meanwhile, any ideas on how to re-enable the AcessIBM key? I still can't figure out how I disabled it?

F1 brings you to the BIOS setup menu on bootup. F11 should boot Rescue and Recovery if the blue Access IBM will not. If F11 doesn't work, make sure you have the Security for the Predesktop Area in the BIOS set to Normal or Secure. It will not boot to Rescue and Recovery when set to disabled. If it still will not work, you can use the Rescue and Recovery - Recovery repair diskette to fix.

Thanks. I don't need R&R at this point. I'm trying to troubleshoot processes and startups to reduce post-boot hangup; I simply needed to get to a boot disk in the DVD player or to run BartPe at boot, and F12 allows me to do that.

But I would really like to know how to re-enable the Blue Access IBM key. I thought it would be hard-wired, ROM, but I was disabling a number of IBM tools and I must have somehow wiped its key assignment. Any notions where the blue key was ORIGINALLY enabled -- registry, Control Panel, where? Thanks.
