Just out of curiosity: Could you perhaps provide a link to the particular T43p on eBay? I just searched www.ebay.co.uk for "T43p" but only found a single 14.1" SXGA model?! That does not seem to be the one you are interested in?

By the way: Are you aware of the fan noise problem which has troubled many T43 and T43p owners? Check e.g. this thread. Also, I believe that much useful information on the T43/p fan noise issue will become evident if you search this forum for "t43p fan noise" (check "Search for all terms"). Yet, many people are satisfied with their T43/p's but it is nice to kow in advance what one may get, when e.g. buying on eBay! Note however that there exist a quite good cure to the fan noise problem; here.

I very recently bought a "remanufactured" (and in perfect condition!) T42p - in the USA. I paid $ 1300,- plus shipping and extended warranty. Note that national VAT will come on top of that, if e.g. importing from the USA into EU. One significant reason for wanting an "old" T42p, and not e.g. a T43p, was the fan noise issue.

Good luck with your purchase!

Best regards,

Johan

Thanks, Johan.

I have already noticed the fan noise issue as it can be seen all over the internet.
I actually won the auction for £645, but before I pay I want to make sure I am buying a reasonable price laptop...
So, if it cost over $1300 for a T42p, it should be OK spending £650 on a T43p?

I don't quite care about the noise issue as I have an X32 which has fan noise as well, also I won't use this T43p all the time as I have a more powerful machine.

If I keep this laptop and try to sell it on ebay 3 months before the warranty runs out, how much do you guys think it can end up?

Just want to do some maths before processing the payment....

Thanks a lot!

Well, as I have not followed the T43p marked as closely as the T42p ditto, I can't say for sure what T43p sells for, but the £ 650 for such a top-of-the-line T43p sounds very cheap to me, provided - of course! - that the condition is good (no or few dead or stuck pixels, no or few scratches, all subsystems functioning, keyboard also fine, copy of original invoice, operating system included etc.). So, to me this absolutely sounds like a very good deal... provided the above etc.

I just searched for T43p in the "Markedplace" on the forum here, and e.g. here T43p's with poorer specs sells for more than yours! So, in your position I guess that I would pay and get your T43p; to me it seems very likely that you can always sell it again later without loosing any money!

Congratulations - I am pretty sure that you just did a very fine deal! (but what I perhaps don't understand is why anybody would sell a T43p in such great shape etc. for this amount?).

Good luck - enjoy!

Best regards,

Johan

Aside from the "shiny spacebar syndrome" that any replacement keyboard on my laptop has had (the original one, after a year, was still holding up well), it looks like you got yourself a deal on a nice machine!
