So I finally was able to make some space in my home for an office. I have my second monitor, speakers etc set up there now. Right now I manually plug/unplug all that stuff every time I leave.
My two questions both revolve around a docking station: 1) is it possible to set up the machine to automatically expand my desktop to the second monitor when I plug it into the docking station (I run windows XP) and 2) will the docking station's pass-thru USB ports run at full 2.0 speed if the ones built into the machine do not? I have the common "USB only runs at 1.1 speed" problem.
Thanks.

1) Using the "Presentation Director" App this is possible.

2) This depends on the problem you have: a) your southbridge is defective/losing contact with the tp logic board (in this case you have definitely only usb1.1 on the docking ports) or b) the usb port connectors are defective (in this case you possibly have more luck using usb2.0, but i'm not 100% certain)
