updating back-ups?
Hello all,
I've recently had to rebuild my HD from the Recovery CDs I made with the IBM utility when I received the machine. I then had to suffer through the endless slew of Windows updates that have taken place since 2003 in order to get my machine back up to date. Now, I know R&R only allows one to make recovery media once (why I have no idea, but that's a different story) -- is there a way for me to create a bootable media backup (using IBM software, a Windows utility, or some other software) that will allow me to copy the entirety of the HD as do the Recovery CDs (including all the up to date Windows updates)? Thanks

There are probably several ways to do it, but I do it using Acronis True Image 10. Even within Acronis TI 10 there are a few different ways you can approach the task.
I just clone my whole disk image to another hard disk on a periodic basis, but you can also burn backups to CDs/DVDs (or even network storage) and use a boot CD to restore them, etc etc.
Cheers,
Bill B.

freeware
some of the hard drive companies have free downloadable utilities to copy drives.
I have used the maxtor utilities with success, but one of your drives as to be a maxtor.
I'm using Norton Ghost for my system file backup.
my system files are on one drive, my data files are on another.
